Job Description:
In a safe, efficient and professional manner the Maintenance
Mechanic will support the Maintenance Manager in the preventative,
corrective, and general maintenance for the Clients critical
environments/infrastructure while adhering to all environmental,
health, and safety standards (EH&S). The Maintenance Mechanic
must be a self-starter with strong interpersonal skills and a
positive attitude to work in a data center or other critical site.
In addition to having experience in working in a critical
environment/data center; the individual must have a strong
background with HVAC Systems, and a thorough knowledge of 480 V
electrical distribution, UPS, and generators and associated
switchgear. Standard hours are 11:00pm to 7:30Am, Monday through
Saturday and overtime as needed. Also, the Maintenance Mechanic
must participate in a rotating paid on-call program for Saturdays
and Sundays, 24 hour coverage.-FIRST THREE MONTHS ARE FIRST SHIFT
FOR TRAINING 7:30 AM- 3:30 PM, ONSITE IN WESTPORT CT-MUST HAVE
VALID DRIVERS LICENSE, WILL USE COMPANY CAR Operate and inspect
emergency power generation and reliability equipment; determining
systems are functioning properly and that maintenance is performed
in accordance with original manufacturers recommendations. Conduct
daily building round inspection of facility infrastructure, such as
power availability, temperature, and humidity, alarm status, etc.
to be catalogued and compared for identification of discrepancies
and trends. Support in the scheduling, coordination, and oversight
of all maintenance vendors during maintenance and break/fix events
to ensure personnel safety, protect the facilitys critical
equipment, and maintain power to the critical load. Supervise
vendors and review vendor field service reports describing all
activities (preventive maintenance, repairs, etc.) performed at the
facility. Prepare and present cost estimates of parts, equipment,
and supplies for proposed installation or repairs. Oversees
maintenance and service repairs on critical systems (UPS, PDU,
Diesel Generators, ATS, BMS, Chillers, CRAC, etc). Supports
ensuring the availability and capacity targets are achieved and
maintained for all critical environments/sites. Respond to the
building management system and electrical management system alarms
immediately and furnish investigations of alarm states and closure
through email communications Install new HVAC units or replacement
parts for existing units according to specifications and
established safety guidelines, relying on instructions and
pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job.
Respond to safety and emergency situations for engineering services
and maintain a safe and secure work environment. Perform other
services determined necessary to maintain and operate all mission
critical related infrastructure in an approved manner.-High school
diploma or general education degree (GED) and a minimum of five
years of hands on maintenance and repair experience with commercial
electrical systems in mission-critical facilities; emergency
generators (generators, fuel delivery systems and parallel
switchgear), electrical distribution (MV/LV switchgear and
associated controls), critical and essential PDU's, UPS,
switchgear, microprocessor control systems, HVAC, air handling
units, computer grade cooling systems, and building
monitoring/control systems. -5-10 years in office building
environments or data centers.-Valid State Drivers Original Social
Security Card-The state trade licensing requirements -OSHA 10
training/certification preferred-State Journeymans License (S OR D)
with equivalent work experience in the HVAC field is highly
desired. -CFC Universal required.-English. -Ability to comprehend
and interpret instructions, short correspondence, and memos and ask
clarifying questions to ensure understanding. -Ability to write
routine reports and basic correspondence. -Ability to respond to
common inquiries or complaints from clients, co-workers, and/or
supervisor.-Able to operate and conduct basic troubleshooting of
mechanical, electrical, plumbing (MEP) equipment including
chillers, CRAC units, generators, UPS systems.-Uses personal
computer and tablet technology for work order system, email, ESS
and training. Basic skills with Microsoft Office Outlook-Building
Automation/Management Systems-having general experience with
different brand types (esp. Siemens, JCI Metasys, Alerton), and
being able to learn overall operation of them, if not specifically
trained on them. -Competency associated with the overall operation
of building critical equipment such as building power switchgear,
generators, UPS, power distribution units, comfort and critical
cooling equipment, fire/life safety systems. -Abilities to prepare
written communications associated with operations of the above
listed equipment, whether in a normal or impaired state, and have
the ability to effectively present information.-Hands on; works and
participates well as a team member; leads by example.-Good
organizational skills disciplined approach to daily activities;
takes a sense of ownership in all aspects of the
job.-Self-motivated; ability to show initiative when problems are
presented; manages time wisely, remains productive while working
independently-Ability to maintain a flexible schedule: days,
evenings, weekends, and emergencies.-Maintain a good attendance
record, including notification in the event of tardiness and
absence.
