We are excited to seek out a FT Smoked Salmon Cutter for our flagship store located in Melville, NY! Our Smoked Salmon Cutter is a customer-facing role requiring expert knife skills, attention to presentation, and a warm, professional demeanor. This individual will be responsible for preparing and slicing smoked salmon to customer specifications while ensuring high standards of quality, food safety, and service. Responsibilities Greet and engage customers in a friendly, helpful manner Slice smoked salmon to precise thickness as requested by customers Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary workstation Ensure proper handling, storage, and labeling of smoked salmon products Manage product rotation and monitor freshness to minimize waste Answer customer questions about smoked salmon products and related offerings Upsell or promote specialty items when appropriate Assist with general deli operations as needed, including restocking, cleaning, and assisting coworkers Follow all health, safety, and sanitation guidelines Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent Prior experience working in a seafood department cutting and fileting fish Strong knife skills and comfort working with raw and smoked fish Excellent customer service and communication skills Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment Dependable, punctual, and team-oriented Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 40 lbs We offer a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, 401(K), 50% off store lunch, 25% off in store shopping and more! Working Conditions Most of the time is spent moving about continuously on hard surfaces. There may be a need to frequently position oneself to examine and/or scan merchandise, including bending, climbing, crawling, handling, pulling, reaching, and stooping. May require lifting objects up to 30 pounds. May require lifting and moving heavy and/or awkward objects more than 30 pounds with assistance. Usually in a comfortable indoor environment surrounded by moving machinery and/or loud equipment that may require shouting in order to be heard. There could be exposure to temperature extremes from freezers, ovens, and/or coolers. There may be occasional exposure to cleaning agents. Employment Type: Full Time Salary: $20 - $25 Hourly
