Summary of PositionReporting to the Clubhouse Director, the Facility Superintendent is responsible for the development and oversight of the Clubhouse's maintenance and repair program. The Superintendent hires, trains, and supervises personnel, purchases and repairs equipment, and creates systems to ensure maximum productivity and safety. The Superintendent will identify responses to address problems and long-term solutions to maximize efficiency and reduce operational costs. The Superintendent is prepared to provide immediate hands-on support in the event of an emergency or when the maintenance department is short-staffed. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of maintenance, facility management, be an excellent communicator, and support a culture of collaboration and problem solving. Job RequirementsBCNY is a COVID-19 proactive organization that follows applicable health and safety regulations to help protect our members and staff. New employees will be asked to submit proof of full vaccination prior to their start date. Major Duties and Responsibilities

  • Oversee the scheduling of daily cleaning and maintenance, repairs, and special projects.
  • Hire, train, supervise, and evaluate maintenance staff.
  • Has skills to directly handle a range of minor repairs.
  • Be prepared to provide immediate hands-on support in the event of an emergency or when the maintenance department is short-staffed.
  • Provide the Clubhouse Director a weekly status update on completed and pending projects.
  • Work with the Clubhouse Director and BCNY Operations Director to purchase equipment and hire vendors for facility and equipment repairs that cannot be handled by the maintenance department.
  • Schedule and manage inspections by the DOH, DOE, FDNY and DOB.
  • Manage approved annual maintenance and operations budget.
  • Serve as the primary contact for facility-related emergencies, which may require involvement after normal business hours to supervise resolution and follow-up.
  • Maintain inventory of maintenance equipment and supplies.
  • Ensure key and alarm systems are in working order.
  • Obtain a CPO within a reasonable timeframe and assume full responsibility for the upkeep and maintenance of the aquatics center.
  • Manage the preventive maintenance and upkeep of the clubhouse van, ensuring usage logs up to date.
  • Keep up-to-date on regulatory changes and meet regularly other Superintendents to discuss industry best practices, economies of scale, and to review policies and procedures related to the maintenance needs of each building.
  • Responsible for other related duties as assigned. Education and/or Experience
    • Understanding of facility maintenance management with a minimum of 3-5 years of maintenance-related experience;
    • Experience successfully supervising staff highly preferred;
    • Bachelor's degree preferred, high school diploma or GED accepted;
    • Certificate of Fitness for Standpipe Operation and Maintenance-S13;
    • Certificate of Fitness for sprinklers S12;
    • Certificate of Fitness for Supervision of fire alarm systems and related systems as required by the FDNY;
    • OSHA-30 certificate;
    • Pool Operator (CPO) certificate is desirable or must be attainable. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
