Vincent’s Medical Center in Bridgeport has more than 3,200
employees. It includes a 473-bed community teaching hospital, a
76-bed inpatient psychiatric facility in Westport, a large
multispecialty provider group, and special needs services for
adults and children. St. Vincent’s is the first hospital in
Fairfield County to be integrated into the Hartford HealthCare
network, and is the system’s second-largest hospital.
The nurse educator
is an integral member of the nursing leadership team who partners
and collaborates with all members of the Perinatal, Newborn and
Neonatal Intensive Care Team.

Association. The nurse educator for FBC reflects knowledge
and expertise in Obstetrical and Neonatal nursing and collaborates
with the unit manager and clinical nurse leader to monitor and
maintain staff performance and patient outcomes in compliance with
regulatory recommendations and requirements in the Perinatal
specialized nursing practice facilitates professional role
competence and professional growth of learners in a variety of
settings; supports lifelong learning; utilizes tools, theories,
skills and knowledge to improve healthcare practice for all
learners. (Nursing Professional Development: Scope and
Standards of Practice (harper & Maloney, 2016).
- Assesses learning
needs based on regulatory requirements, evidence based practice and
individual identified needs. Utilizes creative strategies and adult
professional nursing practice and quality patient care according to
the ANA standards of practice; Endorses the theory based approach
to the continuum of practice from Novice to
