The following are the duties of this position at the full
working level. If you are selected at a lower grade level, you will
have the opportunity to learn to perform these duties and will
receive training to help you grow in this position.
In-depth knowledge of the tax law, codes, regulations, IRM's,
and internal guidelines which relate to the processing of cases in
order to provide technical direction, resolve procedural problems,
and explain provisions and adjustments to taxpayers as
Thorough knowledge of the technical and procedural work of all
subordinates in the section in order to
provide guidance and evaluate subordinates, resolve issues that
are controversial or precedent setting, advise taxpayers, and
assess operational effectiveness.
In-depth knowledge of statutes of limitations and procedures for
the protection of statutes.
Knowledge of the full range of tax filing and reporting
requirements, restricted interest provisions, penalties, problem
resolution, and post assessments.
Authoritative knowledge of processing and adjustment procedures
including transaction codes and cycles in master file, non-master
file, IDRS, and AIMS in order to provide technical direction and
assure that actions are completed properly

STANDARD POSITION DESCRIPTIONS (SPD):

- Tour of Duty: Day shift Monday-Friday 8:00 a.m. to 4:30

You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: To be minimally qualified for this
position you must have one (1) year of specialized experience at a
level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the next lower
level within the payband or GS grade in the normal line of
progression in the Federal service. To be qualifying for this
position your experience should be sufficient to demonstrate:
Experience with management techniques, methods, theories,
principles, and labor relations concepts, to assure optimum
utilization of personnel, equipment, and space for the
accomplishment of all program objectives with combined technical
and administrative oversight; Experience applying regulations,
other official guidance and principles, including the latest
procedures and techniques sufficient to oversee the planning,
development and implementation of the technical aspects of programs
specific to the position being filled; Experience applying basic
budget management principles and practices (i.e. ability to
maintain and manage financial resources); Experience applying
communicative techniques to effectively and diplomatically interact
with internal and external customers.
In addition, your 1 year of specialized experience must
Knowledge of tax examination specialization.
Experience coordinating workflow and resolving related problems;
support experience and acting assignments.
MEET TIME IN GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT: For positions above the
GS-05, applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements
to be considered eligible. One year (52 weeks) at the next lower
grade level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for
the grade you are applying for.
