Medical Center in Bridgeport has more than 3,200 employees. It
includes a 473-bed community teaching hospital, a 76-bed inpatient
psychiatric facility in Westport, a large multispecialty provider
group, and special needs services for adults and children. St.

system’s second-largest hospital. Job Summary:
Develops,coordinates, and instructs fitness and strengthening
programs and events forAyer Neuroscience Institute Spine Wellness
Center. Serves as a strengthening and fitness
trainer;assesses and establishes individualized and group training
programs for clients. Reports to the Fitness
Center Manageror Rehab Site Supervisor.
Assistsrehabilitation team with patient care, education, and
supporting activities. Supports programming and functions
ofwellness team, wellness navigator, and demonstration kitchen.
Oversees fitness program and coordinates rehabmaintenance
program. Cultivatesrelationships with local schools,
businesses, and community groups to supportHHCRN’s programs and
strategic growth. Collaborates with rehab and wellnessteam under
the direction of site supervisor to develop and grow
fitnessprograms, training programs, and group classes for
Incollaboration with rehab, wellness, and nutrition team,
develop and modifyfitness programming and group classes to maintain
high quality care standardsand cohesive programming. Develop,
support, and direct client and employeefitness and wellness
programs. Instructclients in muscle strengthening and
general conditioning exercises. Teach group fitness
classes. Monitor client’s response to exerciseintervention
and report to appropriate medical personnel as indicated.
Evaluate and identify equipment needs forexercise programming.
Ensure equipment is kept clean and maintained as needed,and is
sanitized between use to maintain a clean and safe environment of
care.Offer support and assistance to rehab team.
Cultivaterelationships with rehab clients to support internal
referrals and efficienttransition into long term fitness programs
and classes offered by HHCRN. Recruit clients and community
members toparticipate in group and individual exercise
programs. Identify fitness program members who maybenefit
from referral to other HHC services and levels of care.
Assessclients referred to muscle strengthening program by
gathering baseline data,which will be used for progression of
exercise and measuring successfuloutcomes. Confer formally or
informallywith other team members to coordinate
services. Maintain appropriaterecords pertaining to
fitness strengthening program. Gather and organize outcomes
data to be usedfor Continuous Quality Improvement.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Physiology or
Experience 3 years of experienceworking with geriatric
Licensure, Certification,Registration: Certification from
one or moreprofessional organization: AmericanAcademy of
Health and Fitness Professionals, National Strength and
ConditioningAssociation, or American College of Sports Medicine
Language Skills Proficiency in Englishlanguage - both spoken and
Knowledge, Skills and AbilityRequirements Strong verbal
and written communication skills.

Physical Requirements Physically able to move at least 75 lbs.

Lead exercise classes anddemonstrate fitness activities such as
physioball training, abdominal training, free weights,
plyometric, andbalance training, etc.
