TRAUMA MEDICAL DIRECTOR
St. Catherine of Siena Hospital is part of Catholic Health which is
an integrated system encompassing some of the regions finest health
and human services agencies. CH is inclusive of six acute care
hospitals, three nursing homes, a home nursing service, hospice, a
community-based agency for persons with special needs and a
regional lab. SCSH sits at the heart of Smithtown, Long Island,
adjacent to beaches, fine restaurants, golf courses, recreational
parks, as well as farms and vineyards.
SCSH is a 296 bed acute care community hospital. Our Emergency
Department sees over 29,000 visits/year and has robust services in
the following: Acute Medical/Surgical Services, Oncology Services,
Neurosurgical Services, Psychiatric Services, Stroke, woman Health,
Women & Child Care Center, Level II nursery, NICU, Gastroenterology
/ Endoscopy, Urology, Geriatrics, Infectious Diseases, Laboratory
Services/ Pathology, Respiratory Health and Sleep Medicine,
Dialysis (acute/chronic), Bariatric Surgery Radiology,
Interventional Radiology and Cardiovascular services including EP,
PCI intervention and cardiac catheterization. Medical staff has 869
members with a total employee count of 1,613.
SCSH is seeking to start a Level 3 trauma center. We are seeking a
TMD who shall provide high quality and effective care following
evidence based trauma guidelines as well as providing exceptional
service excellence to our trauma patients. The TMD must be a
current board-certified general surgeon (or a general surgeon
eligible for certification by the American Board of Surgery
according to current requirements) or a general surgeon who is an
American College of Surgeons Fellow with a special interest in
trauma care and must participate in trauma call. The TMD must be
current in Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS). The TMD must
maintain an appropriate level of trauma-related continuing medical
education (16 hours annually, or 48 hours in 3 years). The TMD must
have the authority to manage all aspects of trauma care and
coordinate care with subspecialists. TMD shall serve as co-director
of the ICU and be actively involved in, and responsible for,
setting policies and administrative decisions related to trauma ICU
patients. The co-director who is the TMD must be a surgeon who is
currently board certified or eligible for certification by the
current standard requirements as indicated above.
Salary is competitive with incentive as well as protected and paid
CME and vacation. Stipend will be provided as well to maintain
licenses and DEA as well as Board Certification. Malpractice
coverage will be inclusive of tail and you shall benefit from
medical, vision, and dental insurance coverage.
