responsible for the successful launch of Zebra's products and
services to market.*Ideal candidate will work out of our
Holtsville, NY office or Mississauga, ON* Responsibilities:
Leads the development and
implementation of a company's products and services to success. The
primary domain of product development is with on-device BSP SW with
Enterprise Mobile Computing BU s hand-held terminals and tablets,
based on the Android operating system and Qualcomm chipsetsPossess
embedded HW and SW product development experience in engineering
and project management role. Have domain knowledge of WiFi, WAN
Cellular, Android system, Large scale enterprise level Agile SW
development. Proven leadership and management behavior in complete
ownership, critical thinking, effective communication, negotiation
and persuasion, business acumen, calculated risk taking and
creative problem solvingActs as project manager - monitoring the
program from initiation through delivery including planning and
directing schedules and overseeing budget/spending. Gathers input
from the project team and acts independently to develop a Project
Plan for projects of moderate to significant scope which may
include novel products or services. Uses established tools,
approaches/methodologies and templates to guide and detail the plan
and communicate it to the team. Gathers feedback from the team to
revise and complete the Project Plan as neededNominates and
solicits participation of team members from key stakeholder teams
including Product Management, Engineering, Service/support and
other functional groups, set timelines and budgets independently.
Acts independently to coach team members to success or replace team
members as needed. Is responsible for the work of the project team
(indirectly supervises) involving members from a wide range of
disciplines including engineering, marketing, and
operationsOrganizes cross-functional activities, ensuring
completion of the program i.e. product on schedule and within
budget constraints. Owns regular meeting coordination, facilitation
and documentation of progressGathers status updates from the
project team and interprets inputs from the team to assemble a
consolidated view of status. Provides regular status updates to
senior management as advised. Status reports are encouraged to be
concise summaries, tailored to the audience which may include VP
level team members. Owns ensuring alignment from key leaders of
milestone achievement before moving the program forwardRecognized
as an "expert" in the business function and processes in which the
program is operating. Can use business/process expertise to
identify potential issues, challenge assumptions and effectively
participate in solutions discussions. Able to use this knowledge in
status updates and presentations, and provide clarifying
information where vitalProvides assistance with coordination of
deliverables and project assets to assist the project team.
Personally, addresses obstacles or issues that are moderate to
significant in severity and escalates sophisticated issues to
management for assistance. Independently engages additional
resources as needed to address obstacles or delays. Adjusts the
plan per management guidelines as delays or obstacles are
experiencedNeeds intermediate to advanced knowledge/application of
basic Program Management techniques and approaches including
familiarity with vocabulary. Effectively uses project management
tools in scheduling and staffing plans, with an understanding of
task durations and dependencies. Develops comprehensive risk
management plans. Performs critical path analysis to optimize the
schedule and minimize the overall duration of the
programDemonstrates advanced understanding of development processes
and product launch scope and activities. Uses experience and
knowledge to identify and recommend process improvements with
limited supervision by management in this position for complex or
novel problems Qualifications: Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree- ideally Electrical Engineering or Computer
Science degree, or related technical BS degree
- 8+ years experience Program Management(software development
domain experience)-ideally in Tech Industry; including minimum 2
years as team lead/supervisor/mentor. (Must be a Dynamic Program
Manager with ability to move and pivot with fast-paced team)
- Strong communication and facilitation skills. Formal training
preferred.
- Strong presentation skills. Demonstrated comfort in presenting
to mid to senior level cross functional audiences
- Savvy in working with globally distributed product development
teams, located in India, Taiwan and China. Require flexible working
hours to overcome the time zone difference. Able to do -10%
international travel Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree
- Demonstrated working knowledge of advanced concepts with
program management approaches, tools and methodologies. PMP
certification preferred
- Bring enough technical depth and understanding, so that the PM
can contribute independently to technical problem solving
- Continual learners in technology and strive to discover new
approaches to solving complex problems
- Challenge the assumptions of the engineering team to design a
more cost effective or faster time to market solution. Technical
risk management
- Engage in architecture conversations and pressure test the
engineering team regarding implications of design decisionsCome
