Job Description:
The 2-year Global Graduate development program is designed to
develop critical skills by providing participants an opportunity to
experience a range of placement assignments as they establish broad
experience within Engineering. These carefully structured
experiences will expose participants to a view of the "big picture"
and capabilities in areas important to engineering. Rotations could
include experiences in one Iberdrola location in Spain, Scotland,
Brazil or Mexico and 2 rotations in the U.S. (Orange, CT,
Rochester/Binghamton, NY and Augusta/Portland, ME).
For each assignment, participants will be required to meet specific
outcomes and execute project plans. Along with rotations, members
also are given opportunities to work on Process Improvement
projects that relate to their rotations.
Job Responsibilities:
The Cloud Engineer role is responsible to deploy IT assets in the
cloud, allowing infrastructure and application development in our
cloud platforms. The Cloud Engineer will have expert hands on
knowledge on Integrate, Configure, deploy and manage cloud
services.
This role will collaborate with the Cloud Team to implement the
AVANGRID cloud first strategy and cooperate with other IT areas to
translate application/business requirements into cloud
infrastructure and services.
Provides technical support and solutions for the Cloud
infrastructure, including OnPrem migrations to Cloud. Maintenance
of Cloud platforms for daily production requirements and project
development. Engages as technical stakeholder for AVANGRID Cloud
initiatives, local and global, elaborating new use cases,
configuration management, documentation, operational support
models--- Seeks Cloud infrastructure cost efficiency, making
proposals to respond to the business units' requirements and needs
at the highest cost-benefit rate. Cloud subscription and resources
management. Cloud Service provisioning. Support the creation of
automation templates. Support the definition of cloud standards and
guidelines in collaboration with Architecture Team. Support the
definition of cloud service catalogue in collaboration with
Architecture Team. Maintains up-to-date documentation and
procedures that define the operability of the Cloud infrastructure.
Monitors Cloud servers for performance and availability. Makes
recommendations when necessary to meet the expected demands,
increase efficiency and reduce obsolescence. Installs/maintains
third party software packages as require. Contributes to define
Cloud roadmap to ensure cloud infrastructure reliability,
scalability, and availability, reducing the environment
obsolescence though the appropriate lifecycle programs. Deploys and
maintains Infrastructure as code (IaC) scripts implementation in
AVANGRID as the main technology to deploy cloud services
Requirements:
Education & Experience:
BS/BA Degree in Computer Science, Information Services, Electrical
Engineering or other technical discipline Graduate: 0-2 Years
Skills & Abilities:
Knowledge of all aspects of system administration (i.e.
installation, configuration, use management, 3rd party software
license management etc.). Knowledge of one or more cloud platforms
(Google Cloud, Azure,etc) and least knowledge of Microsoft Azure
fundamentals, Landing Zones, etc Knowledge of fundamental
distributed computing environment concepts. Knowledge on basic
principles supporting and managing IT cloud environments Ability to
coordinate with multiple individuals and departments. Ability to
learn new technologies and apply them to current operational
environments. Ability to interface with clients to gather business
requirements and objectives. Ability to quickly adapt to new
environments and learn new Technologies. Understanding of industry
trends across cloud and on prem operating platforms and data
security. Other Abilities:
Good oral and written communication skills. Problem solving and
analytical skills. Ability to multitask. Interpersonal and
Communication Skills. Must be a proven team player to work, promote
and consolidate efficient team working relationships. Internal and
External Relationships:
You will have the opportunity to work on a variety of IT Cloud
projects.
Work closely with IT business analysts and IT architects to define
cloud solutions following business and application requirements.
Co-operate with the technical teams to balance usability and
technical concerns in Cloud design. Work closely with AVANGRID
Architecture team to implement, evolve IT standard and architecture
models as required. Establish and maintain relationships with 3 rd
party suppliers (mainly cloud) for operational activities.
