Job DescriptionJob Title: Mechanical Engineer SeniorJob Location: Holtsville,NYJob Duration: 4 MonthsSr. Mechanical Engineer with Design and Manufacturing experience* Creo experience* Plastic injection molding design, metal casting design, and elastomer design* Advanced manufacturing techniques a plus* Mobile device design experience (rugged a plus)* Knowledge of shock, impact, seal, vibration, temperature, and chemical exposure environments* Manufacturing processes knowledge and experience* PCB layout support experience (Keep out drawings in particular)* Root cause and DFMEA experience* Tolerance analysis and first article inspection experience* JDM/ODM design partner experience* Years of experience* 10+ years of experience for Sr engineer* 5+ years of experience for support engineer* Accredited degree in Mechanical engineering* Will be based out of a our client Design Facility (Holtsville NY, Mississauga CA, Taipei TW) but working remotely from home due to Covid restrictionsLooking for a mechanical engineer with a minimum of 10 years experience for Sr position (5 years of experience for support position) in mechanical engineering with relevant work experience with rugged handheld and fixed mount opto-electronic products and a knowledge of ruggedized packaging for mobile computers and accessories. Experience with our client, Moto Solutions, Psion, Client, and/or Symbol devices is a plus.Experience in designing and an understanding of manufacturing injection molded plastics, Zinc, Aluminum or Magnesium die cast parts, and precision sheet metal is required. Understanding and experience in tolerance analysis, risk assessment, and DFx (DFA/DFM) is required. Creo part/assembly design, and drafting is required as CAD data will need to be reviewed and updated. Knowledge of opto-mechanical design, structural FEA, and working in a JDM design model is desirable.The position will require working with the mechanical project lead and the cross functional development team both within our client as well as with our JDM/ODM partners, on the next generation rugged mobile product from concept phase, through development, analysis, simulation, build and test to release. Responsibilities will include (but may not be limited to) supporting the concepting of the design, requirements review, design and development, building test plans, root cause analysis of failure modes seen in testing, and resolution to issues that arise that are design, manufacturing and process related.
