Through the creation of resources and initiatives, we support African American Chambers of Commerce and business organizations in their work of developing and growing Black enterprises across the U.S.Position SummaryThe U.S. Black Chambers (USBC) is seeking a highly motivated, professional, and analytical Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to join its Washington, DC team. The CFO is a key member of the executive leadership team, responsible for overseeing all financial operations, strategy, and planning for USBC. This role ensures financial sustainability, transparency, and compliance, while also leading strategic initiatives that support the organization's mission to empower Black business enterprises across the United States. The CFO will be responsible for the full spectrum of financial management and administration, including planning, analysis, forecasting, and daily accounting operations to drive overall financial performance. Reporting to the CEO and working closely with the executive team, the ideal candidate must demonstrate strong attention to detail and thrive in a fast-paced environment.Key ResponsibilitiesFinancial Leadership and Strategy

  • Develop and execute USBC's financial strategy to align with its mission and long-term goals.
  • Provide strategic financial input to the CEO and Board of Directors.
  • Lead the preparation of short- and long-term financial forecasts, budgets, and strategic plans.Financial Operations and Management
    • Oversee the day-to-day financial operations, including accounting, budgeting, payroll, and financial reporting.
    • Monitor cash flow, investments, and financial reserves to ensure organizational stability.
    • Develop, implement, and maintain robust internal financial controls and policies.Reporting and Compliance
      • Prepare accurate and timely financial reports for the CEO, Board of Directors, and external stakeholders.
      • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and reporting requirements, including tax filings and audits.
      • Act as the primary liaison with external auditors, ensuring successful audits.Revenue Growth and Fundraising Support
        • Partner with the development team to provide financial oversight of grants, sponsorships, and donor contributions.
        • Develop financial models and analyses to support revenue generation strategies.
        • Provide support and financial insight to program leaders to ensure sustainable program delivery.Team Leadership and Development
          • Lead and develop the finance team, fostering a culture of accountability and excellence.
          • Collaborate across departments to provide financial guidance and support for organizational initiatives.
          • Identify and implement tools, technology, and systems to enhance financial efficiency and effectiveness.QualificationsEducation and Experience
            • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or a related field (MBA or CPA preferred).
            • Minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible financial leadership experience, preferably in the nonprofit sector.Skills and Competencies
              • In-depth knowledge of nonprofit accounting standards, including GAAP and fund accounting.
              • Proven experience with financial strategy, planning, and analysis.
              • Strong understanding of compliance requirements for nonprofit organizations, including grant management.
              • Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
              • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
              • Proficiency in financial software and systems, including QuickBooks and Microsoft Office Suite.Personal Attributes
