Job Description:
Our Maritime division is a trusted and strategic partner in the
maritime defense domain, focusing on mission-centric equipment and
systems primarily across the five-eyes nations. We specialize in
maritime sonar, radar, acoustic expendables, signature management
and power systems. Ultra Signature Management and Power (SMaP) is
looking for a talented candidate for our Program Finance role.The
successful candidate will be responsible for the maintenance of
programs financials across Ultra Maritime SMaP on a timely basis
with accurate revenue recognition, invoicing, cost, funding, gross
margins, cash flow, and programmatic risks as well as monitor costs
on a weekly basis ensuring that actuals are within budget and
charged to the correct cost account.The Project & Cost Accounting
function records the costs associated with a particular project or
job in Ultra. It collects all costs, invoices, timecards, and other
direct project charges and assures they are recorded in the correct
charge account. The function will create data that tracks, reports
on, and analyses the financial performance of projects. A
professional at this grade possesses knowledge for specific fields
and performs structured work assignments. Uses established
procedures to solve problems by making judgments and gets work done
with quality under moderate supervision. Has limited discretion to
vary from established procedures.Key Responsibilities:
- Review program costs and estimates to complete, supporting /
challenging PMs and Work Package Managers
- Review weekly/monthly timesheet bookings against programs to
ensure accuracy of labor costs.
- Maintain and analyze actual program financials against bid
position and forecasts.
- Maintain various financial schedules and sub-ledgers,
particularly related to program reporting.
- Perform variance analyses on costs, scope and schedules, and
report on related risks.
- Identify variances and support project management in resolution
of outstanding issues.
- Review the program resource requirements and monitor this
against actual resources provided to the program.
- Prepare financial customer reporting as required under program
contracts.
- Monitor program cashflow reporting, gross margin analysis.
- Support Program Managers with customer interface when
requested.
- Assist Program Managers with Project and Excel reporting
tools.
- Assist in the program budgeting and forecasting process.
- Assist in the preparation of R&D Expenditure Credit
information or other government funding where relevant.
- Provide program reports to PM and Senior Management as
requested.
- Oversee formal quarterly Program Cost Reviews
- Provide detailed program inputs into the FP&A processes /
budgets / forecasts.
- Co-ordinate / ensure that program invoicing is completed on
schedule, monitor unpaid invoices, and assist in the resolution of
any overdue customer invoices.
- Support month-end close processesRequired Skills:
- BA degree in Accounting or Finance, Masters' degree is a
plus.
- 5+ years' experience in Program Finance.
- A sound understanding of program cost accounting / project
accounting is essential.
- Experience with GAAP, IFRS accounting standards.
- Willing to present complex financial information.
- Ability to obtain a US Government security clearance. Security
clearances are granted to U.S. citizens.Desired Skills:
- Professional accountancy qualification an advantage.
- The ability and desire to interpret financial information will
be beneficial to the successful candidate as we are looking to
develop the role further in the future.
- Problem-solving skills are crucial to analyzing past and
current performance and recommending objectives to improve
productivity and profitability.

- Defense industry experience.
- Competent in use of Microsoft Office products.
- Demonstrable high degree of computer literacy including
familiarity with an accounting or ERP
