Job Description:

The Senior Tax Accountant will provide services under the general supervision of Partners and Managers. They will be expected to will serve as the principal contact for most engagements they are assigned and will be primarily responsible for all services performed on these engagements. The Senior Tax Accountant will be expected to perform a wide variety of accounting, tax, and consulting services for clients and will be expected to be able to perform essentially all tax and related procedures, including ( but not limited to ): Preparation of complex individual, corporate, partnership & fiduciary tax returns and underlying work papers, including State and Local Tax (SALT) and potential international tax compliance in accordance with tax regulations; Review of individual, corporate, partnership & fiduciary tax returns and underlying work papers prepared by staff accountants; Review and supervision of routine outsourced accounting services provided to clients as performed by staff accountants; Preparation and review of high-risk or complex areas of outsourced accounting services; Assist with tax controversy services, including resolution of tax notices and audits from taxing authorities; Understand and research basic to moderately complex tax concepts and apply to client situations; communicate results with clients; Provide innovative solutions to client accounting and consulting needs; Special importance must be placed on the high level of responsibility the Senior Tax Accountant will have in managing their engagements. They are responsible for the quality, effectiveness, timeliness, and efficiency of essentially all engagements on which they serve. Delegation of responsibility may be limited to specific engagement areas or types. The Senior Tax Accountant is expected to eagerly accept their high level of responsibilities, and manage their own time effectively enough to minimize management---s involvement in their daily activities. In addition to the above, the Senior Tax Accountant is also expected to actively participate in the firm---s development and continued success and should continue to ensure that a quality work product and excellent client service are always provided. As such, the Senior Tax Accountant will have certain management and development responsibilities, which include (but are not limited to): Keep management aware of progress on engagements on a regular basis, including length of time to completion and unresolved matters; Responsible for training and guiding Staff Tax Accountants for their engagements, including delegating appropriate levels of work, following up on unresolved matters, and enhancing lower-level staff members--- understanding of accounting and tax law; Involved in providing input into performance reviews and goals of lower-level staff members that have worked on the Senior Tax Accountant---s engagements; Attend firm-sponsored functions and events, client-sponsored functions and events, and other networking events. Serve an important role in firm marketing activities, including serving on, and truly participating in, one or more of the various marketing committees in place; actively contributing to the content and form of the firm---s newsletters and website; and gaining enhanced networking experience; Project a positive image (in terms of attitude, appearance, and professionalism) of themselves and Cerini & Associates. Job Skills & Qualifications: The Senior Tax Accountant should have the following qualifications and job skills: Self-motivated and independent; Developed project management and communication skills; Strong work ethic and professionalism; Ability to manage and inspire a culture of teamwork with engagement team members; Experienced in various technology packages; experience in ProSystem FX Tax Preparation, Axcess, Engagement and Practice Management a plus. Strong Quickbooks skills a plus. Proficient in Microsoft Suite. Experience researching tax matters and making recommendations to clients and management for application of tax law; 4-6 years professional tax experience in various industries; experience in health care, technology, construction, real estate, professional services and financial services a plus. Experience with high net worth individuals and pass-through taxation a plus. Bachelors degree in accounting or tax required; Master---s preferred. Current active CPA License a plus; required to be eligible to sit for exam. Alternative credential (Enrolled Agent) acceptable.
